Case Study - Coleg Cambria North Wales

The largest set of educational buildings we have cleaned to date was Coleg Cambria in Connahs Quay, North Wales.

It started with a phone call from the college as they were due to an Estyn Inspection, and they wanted the buildings to look as clean as possible.

To clean all external windows on the site, which consisted of several large buildings up to 4 stories in height.

The windows had not been cleaned for at least 5 years, and the time frame given was 5 days plus the weekend.

The college was open, so we had to ensure all work was done in a safe and risk compliant manager as pupils and staff were on site.

Due to the property’s size, we were aware that we would have to go the extra mile to get finished in time.

The job was really a 10-day task for us to get it done in the allocated time.

Work started at 5 am instead of 8 am, so over the course of 5 days, we managed to squeeze 7 days of work into 5 days.

We then decided to work the entire weekend and brought some subbies in to help us.

At one point, we had 4 different window cleaning companies on site.

As the main contractor and all responsibility for health and safety and insurances fell under our umbrella.

The Result

95% of the work was done by Saturday 5 pm Saturday.

Sunday was utilised to double-check our work and repeat clean some windows that had not been cleaned for at least 20 years.

The result was 100% completion by Sunday afternoon.
